Hunter — Texas Republicans Find Craziest Person in State, Aim to Put Her in Charge of School Textbooks

No, it's not the Onion.
Texas Republicans' drive to find the stupidest people in the state and elect them to office seems, if anything, to be picking up steam.…
Some things that Mary Lou Bruner has stated she believes: Obama used to be a gay prostitute. Climate change is a hoax promoted by the communists and, specifically, by Karl Marx himself. Slavery is not the reason for the American Civil War, but we have been led to think that through a conspiracy by historians who "waited until all of the people who were alive during the Civil War and the Restoration died of old age." School shootings started only after “the schools started teaching evolution.” That there may have been dinosaurs on Noah’s ark, and the reason there are no dinosaurs now is that Noah only brought baby dinosaurs that starved to death when he let them loose back on land.

Texas has peculiar election laws that lead to these outcomes. There are too many elected offices, between judges, state, city and county officials, police, constables, sheriffs, representatives, commissioners, council members, rail road commissioners, on and on. hundreds of offices, many more candidates. A political science professor on the radio said yesterday that Texans tend to vote for people with names that sound like their own when they get deep into the ballot and don't know anything about the candidates. Many people click the straight-party-ticket button too, and that also gives terrible outcomes. I feel their pain though, I usually leave most the ballot blank because I have no idea who the people are, or even what they do in government. Not that Judge #143 isn't important...they may decide death penalty cases.

One of the reasons people is voting Trump is because he is not very religious. Do the nutjob leadership at the GOP ever take notes?

All this hijacked politics by religious idiots and nutjob evangelists is insane. Where is the separation between religion and the state? This is ISIS Christian-version, virtually the same crap. All those critiques of ISIS, Iran or whatever have zero credibility if they follow the same dogmatic theocratic totalitarianism ideas.

"Gone full Texas", isn't that a phrase? Makes more sense than ever...

Ignacio,

Most Evangelicals dont vote so that is a tip-off most are not buying into all of the political dogmas...

I think Trump might be tapping into these previously non-voting "Evangelicals" because he is not all into the gay-bashing, etc... there might be a previously disenfranchised cohort of social justice Evangelicals who never even wanted to vote before who are now coming out for Trump because he is more focused on socio-economic justice vice gay-bashing, etc...

Trump knew once Romney came out with that "47%" statement then Romney was finished... Trump now uses "47%" as an actual metaphor in his campaign...
