A Very British Institution: The UK Military and The Far-Right

We reject the imperialist wars!

What are the politics of the British army? Since the Iraq War, the UK military has tried to improve its image by presenting itself as inclusive, diverse and non-political. But accusations of endemic racism and far-right sentiment within its ranks have surfaced, telling a different story. With death threats against left-wing leader Jeremy Corbyn and active recruitment of former soldiers to far-right groups, we investigate how this institution seems to be an incubator for far-right extremists. Afghanistan veteran and journalist Joe Glenton turns the lens on the UK military and speaks to veterans, paramilitaries, and victims about what this institution represents.

So who or what exactly is this mysterious "far right"? The allegedly left of centre Labour Party helped kill a million Muslims in Iraq for no good reason, while the allegedly far right British National Party and UKIP opposed that war from day one.

So on that basis, the political left's claim that the BNP and UKIP are "far right" looks a bit shaky.

And then there's the religion which supports homophobia, the mistreatment of women, mistreatment of apostates, tries to ban all criticism of itself (in the same way as Hitler, Stalin etc tried to ban criticism of themselves). Well that movement / religion is pretty obviously way to the right of any UK political party.

Strikes me the phrase "far right" is total farce.

The far-right exists and is real. It is mainly made up of brain-dead numskulls.

But at least we agree on how bad the left of centre Labour Party was.
