But why should we lift them at our expense? And they would have done nearly the same without us. So the question remains, why didn't US policy makers do more to ensure employment, wages and incomes didn't suffer, if there was a huge bounty of excess benefit from globalisation? The answer is because the bone heads at Harvard and the other ivy leagues believed political objections were protectionist and nothing more. They subverted democracy and corrupted politicians for the greater good. They were wrong, they caused untold suffering, financial crisis and other grave consequences to society.
