Very interesting... on the surface he is all debt doomsday all the time, but he is just the budget committee NOT on the appropriations committees...

From what Ive learned, the appropriators think they run things not the budgeteers....

I'll think about this.... Ryan's plan could be a paper tiger type deal....Resp,Matt Frankohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11978352335097260145noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2761684730989137546.post-81672946838116956662011-04-14T12:54:02.385-04:002011-04-14T12:54:02.385-04:00Matt, I think two things are going on. The Laffer ...Matt, I think two things are going on. The Laffer supply side people routed the traditional GOP fiscal conservatives. Remember Poppy Bush's "voodoo economics" when he was running against Reagan for the nomination. He quickly changed his tune. W. continued the Laffer policies, and now there is a huge push-back from the fiscal conservatives (Tea Party) that want to balance the budget.

The two factions have not resolved their differences and there is going to be a kerfuffle down the line. Right now I think you are correct, both the Laffer side (Ryan) and the fiscal conservatives (TP'ers) want to slow the economy to gain leverage over Obama in the general.

But if the GOP wins, there will be a fight over fiscal policy again between the budget balancers and the supply siders who know that is death. Look at the Ryan budget, it doesn't clean the fiscal house for 70 years.Tom Hickeyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08454222098667643650noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2761684730989137546.post-86796555568604483822011-04-14T05:39:51.722-04:002011-04-14T05:39:51.722-04:00Tom,

I have to believe they do not want the economy to be humming along in fall 2012.

Fiscal conservativism has taken over the GOP for now.... to our detriment.Matt Frankohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11978352335097260145noreply@blogger.com
