Nancy Folbre — It’s the Accounting, Stupid

Some might argue that the experts doing cutting-edge research on accounting reform are just too nerdy to get the public’s attention. The bigger problem lies in resistance to any changes that threaten the short-run profitability of powerful industries. Our political system seems to reward strategic investments in disinformation.
If only we could better account for – and correct – this problem.
