Subliminal Message Specifically for William K. Black

Commentary by Roger Erickson

I nearly busted a gut laughing at a line from a Washington Post story yesterday, about a financial squabble in a well publicized local company.

"If they're going to say we stole, we're going to say we're an owner. ... You can't steal from yourself."

Before meeting Bill Black, that might not have struck me as such dark humor. The truth may hurt, but it can also be a riot ... once known. Once seen through, even absurd fraud can't control humor, or keep it in the dark.

Or maybe it was a subliminal message for William K. Black? The rubes secretly want to be jailed for their absurd logic? Too bad they really couldn't afford to pay their staff more, or just lower their service fees. :(
