Anti Wall St. Sentiment in GOP

"Mr. Neo-con" pointing out some Democrat hypocrisy; drawing attention to past failures of "Wall Street".

This dovetails with the revelation in the AlterNet article below wrt this aspect of Trump's popularity within the GOP:
As another example, Trump doesn't care for Wall Street. A recentpoll found that 65 percent of Trumps' Iowa supporters, are either "unsatisfied" or "mad as hell" at Wall Street; among other things, Trump opposes the "carried interest loophole" the Financial industry loves.

"Wall Street" (FD: metonym alert) is getting it from both sides.

  1. Not sure what the point is. Many Wall Street bankers did things that weren't allowed. But they weren't prosecuted.

  2. Well many on the left seem to think that Wall St is exclusively GOP occupied territory...

I think its fair to say that there is skepticism wrt "Wall Street" on both sides currently...

This is not the first time Kristol has tweeted something like this...

And Trump is manifestly "anti-Wall St." and he is leading the GOP polls by a wide margin...

Many on the right do not think that Wall St. has the answers to everything...

  3. btw Dan any Federal crimes committed in 2008 would be prosecuted in 2009 at the earliest...

GOP exited Federal Executive position in Jan 2009 and wont be back for at least 8 years...

Obama should pardon Hillary right now and just get it over with already ...it will be long forgotten by Nov. 2016.... (not advocating this but it would be the best course for Dems if they want Hillary in there...)

  4. Matt, don't be a sucker. Bill Krsitol is a long-time profession political operator and partisan hack. He's just trying to spark some kind of argument between Sanders and Clinton because he knows Sanders is attempting to keep his campaign focused on economic and real-life issues.

  5. Well Dan I'm sure he wants his side to win...

But imo if he had to accept a Hillary or Sanders presidency, imo he'd take Sanders any day...

  6. Dan,

Certainly there is a faction within the GOP that thinks simply "what's good for Wall St. is good for the US... blah blah..."

imo Kristol (and many others of us) dont think this way.... we recognize that things are not that simple...

Kristol recognizes that Wall St. f-ed up big time... so he is skeptical of "Wall St" at this point as are many others in GOP... rsp,

  7. What I love about both Trump and Sanders is that they are showing the leadership of both parties that Populism is Popular. No Shit!

  8. One of the greatest pleasures in my long life has been watching Hellary's campaign go up in flames. Couldn't happen to a shittier person.

  9. Hillary: “What I did was allowed." Isn't this just what Wall St. bankers said after 2008?

That's a false assumption. The question is whether laws and regulations were broken.

The answer wrt the bankers is a definitive yes. They just got a pass on it. That and matters similar to it are reasons that The Donald and Bernie are doing so well out of the gate and building momentum.

As far as I know, the jury is still out on HRC on this.

  10. Tom I think Kristol's point is it is an unacceptable reply to either situation...

"Conservatives" generally like to hold people accountable.... libertarians not.

  11. Kristol isn't interested in Wall Street Matt. Sanders made a commitment at the start of his campaign to stay focused on rel-life issues and avoid being goaded by the media into negative campaigning against Clinton. Kristol can see that the success of that plan, so far, is bad for Republicans, and that his guys would do better if the Democrats were tearing each other to shreds, and so he is trying to do his bit to provoke a divisive brawl between Clinton and Sanders over something or other.

  12. Dan I would agree it is not his priority....

But this is revealing that he is not buying their BS either.... same with Trump and a lot of the base...
