Geopolitics 101 — Unprecedented Uproar: How One Ballad is Igniting a New Revolution Against the Elite

The protest song comes back. Will it spark a new protest movement and new trend, or is this just a voice crying in the wilderness? Anyway, it seems to have social-political-economic implications worth calling attention to.

Low-wage worker-author-performer with mental health issues rejects $8 million offer from the industry after his song goes viral.

Incidentally, here is the patriotic song igniting Russia now. It is not only a patriotic song but also a song of defiance in the face of the attempt of the combined West to "cancel" Russia and its civilization.

Shaman "I am Russian" (Я РУССКИЙ) with English Lyrics (3:34)

  1. The Russian song is proud and patriotic.

The American song laments the collapse of the West.

Which of the two civilizations will prevail?

  2. Russians are proud for dying in great numbers for Stalin?

When Putin is gone, they may regret their next leader.

I'm suspicious of the Oliver Anthony song. An example of astro-turfing?

  3. I bet Ukrainians are proud for dying for Zelenskyy on behalf of Washington. Goes to show what a minority of ultra-nationalist fanatics can do, when they are put into power.

Never thought I'd link to a Slate article on MNE, but there's a first time for everything.

  7. It suits right populism. Even anti-Trump RINOs are warning not to dismiss what he's saying...

The reaction to that one song is as tribal as it gets.

  9. Apx 15% of Russians support the war, the Zed Bloggers. Apx 15% of Russians oppose Putin and are 'mixed' about the war. The rest are just trying to keep their heads down and go about their lives, all while doing their best to ignore Ukie drones hitting Moscow. lol

Meanwhile, NATO has been super charged and Ukrainian nationalism has also been supercharged. Putin is now trying to freeze the war so he can rebuild, regroup and start again in 3 to 5 years. [this assumes he'll still be alive by then]

As for that Neo-Fascist cracker anthem, it'll be gone in one or two news cycles...
