Public health option off the table

The Obama Administration is apparently caving in on its promise to deliver Government-backed health care just like I predicted on a recent segment of "Cavuto" on Fox Business. (The other panelists said the hesitation was just "posturing.")

I knew the public health option would be dropped because of a belief on the part of the president and his advisers that we don't have the money. The need to bring costs down and keep a watchful eye on deficit spending will, once again, leave many without care and with a standard of living far below where it ought to be given our available capital and resources.

Each and every day Obama's policies are causing more and more wealth to flow to the top. This is in direct contrast to the ideas he espoused when he ran for president: that he would help the working class.

So far, NOTHING has been done to help those in the middle or at the bottom, however, it took little time for the multi-million dollar bonuses to start flowing again on Wall Street.

A disaster for most Americans. A terrible display of leadership.

  1. If you say you WANT people (like me) to be without insurance, then what possible defense could you have. No one WANTS people to suffer. I think everyone gets it, that we can manufacture money to pay for anything - that doesn't mean its a good idea, nor the best idea. The solution is not a massive government take over and it isn't "just write a check" beasue we can. General healthcare is not the governments responsibility and so far all I have seen is a massive concentration of power which frankly scare the hell out of me and that is what people are rejecting. Do you trust these guys?

  2. I agree with Chasmast. Thanks God this peice of Socialist agenda is collapsing. What has always made our country great is that we believe you need to work to earn what you receive, not a free ride from the government.

  3. Sure the gov't can write a check. What do you think it does for SS, Medicare, Unemployment insurance, etc? Are we short of capital and resources so that if it writes a check it squeezes out the private sector? On the contrary, we are running far below what we are capable of. There is vast need for more investment--everywhere--but what could possibly be more important than sustaining and maintaining the human capital of the nation? It says right in the preamble of the Constitution..."Promote the general welfare..." Do you think that letting 43 million of our citizens go without adequate care that is "promoting the general welfare" of the nation?? The government shouldn't raise taxes; they shouldn't run clinics...they should just pay the money.

  4. Miguel,

Without the social supports put in place during the 1930s--SS, Medicare, unemployment insurance, disability insurance, bank deposit guarantees--we'd be in a full blown depression perhaps larger than what was experienced back then. So the social aspect has been there for a long time. Furthermore, lots of people want to work...I'm not talking about welfare (and I think there's even a role for that); but we are doing NOTHING to create jobs. The wealth flow to the top earners will be greater under this president than any other since Reagan. It's unbelievable. Wall Street bonuses are back to new records, but the average person who would love to work and be productive, hasn't much of a chance if he's just lost his job. This Administration puts automakers into bankruptcy, i.e., shrinks our capacity to produce the real wealth of society, but sustains speculators and money changers who add nothing of value. It is an absolute outrage and it is beyond comprehension how anybody can justify this without without otherwise cynically hiding their personal agenda.

  5. Chasmast, Mike's point is that Obama is using "affordability" as a reason for not going forward with the policy.

  6. When we provide healthcare to as many people as possible, we are reducing the need for frivolous lawsuits and legal industries that are damaging to the society.

In other words, free healthcare will check in place the lawyers who control the process of compensation.

This is all a Republican creation, the problem was created by them, and the democrat solution is now despised by them. This is their double dipping ruckus.

Bush II gave out stimulus checks in the guise of tax rebate checks.

He spent from an account, therefore that is stimulus and that is socialist too.

It cratered the US dollar and created the spiral of commodity inflation - totally unsustainable.

The end result was the destruction of money - vaporized.

Norman theory of capacity will put more people to work, feed more families, create more babies, prevent more diseases, increase technology for the effect of decreasing costs rather than increasing them, and all that
    is pro-American.

It will improve the dept of Education rather than closing it like Tom Delay wanted to do since Delay considered it not constitutional.

The creation of money via the Norman theory of capacity and re-capacity will bring America back for the next 40 years.

Free healthcare is not socialist, it is protectionist of our people and invests in their worth. It gets rid of the opportunistic Doctors who are doing it wrong and for farming on people's lives.
