More evidence of NYPD brutality
In this video you will see an NYPD "white shirt" (supervisor) taking an unprovoked swing at a protestor. A white shirt was involved in the macing of a woman a few weeks ago.
I went down to Zuccotti Park the other day. The protesters were calm and law abiding. However, a white shirt was screaming obscenities to a group of people to move even though they were just standing there in the park. The white shirts of today are becoming today's equivalent of the Nazi "brown shirts" of the 1930s.
jesus that was a real blow to the head too.
ReplyDeleteinteresting that both the great depression and fascist regimes took root in the 30's....perhaps there's a connection between the two? That could actually makes some sense to me as I think about the two dynamics at play. Fascinating mentally but definitely NOT interesting to live in. Can we change this script now please?
Are these protests inconveniencing the public?
ReplyDeleteamazingly laura I have actually had many a friend/acquaintance say such a thing....I couldn't believe it and sparked up a hearty discussion with them. It seems to me people are just so deeply in need of understanding how our monetary system works. I keep sending them here and to mosler and explaining the ideas to them but boy the cultural brain seems to always default on "inflation" and "socialism" no matter which way you turn!
ReplyDeleteUnless they all band together to vote out the RepubDemo party nothing can change. I'm glad to see people standing up to our brutish government. But at the risk of being flippant, seriously, what is all this going to accomplish? I can't imagine a single politician will resign or even change a vote or one regulation. I wish it would have an effect on policy but I don't see any companies changing their outsourcing ways, corrupt politicians aren't going to give up their posts, populist rhetoric will keep mis-informing from the right-left media sources.

ReplyDeletethe treaty of versailles left germany in a great depression with hyperinflation ( WORSE than what we have now ) - i.e.the bags of money needed just to buy bread - the effect of Paulista/Austria type of standards to inflate etc
the germans were left with nothing, and the defect parts of their culture took root
yes. it seems there may be a direct correlation between widespread poverty (or at least PERCEPTION of poverty) and a strong desire to do ANYTHING (a whatever it takes kind of attitude) to "rise to the top" again.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't seem to dissimilar to me from a guy who just lost big playing poker who is now going "all in" at the slightest possible good hand and recklessly throwing his money around in hopes of a few cards after the flop.
The psychology is similar. Kind of like a kicked dog now angry and (feeling as though if not really) trapped in a corner.
interestingly enough both the tea party and OWS seem to have those types of mental/emotional characteristics about them wouldn't you agree?
ReplyDeleteMario - WWI had enormous economic consequences that led to the Great Depression & the fascist regimes. They had real support because they tended to run their economies better, the dictators just uhh, dictating & wisely ignoring the economic "science" of the day. Britain was in a semi-Depression, with double digit unemployment from the early 20s.
ReplyDeleteOver-zealous white shirts notwithstanding, the police are expected to enforce the law, including health and safety provisions.

"Will Protesters Drive Job Creators Out?"
ReplyDeleteUhm, that's the general idea. And the sooner the better.
They should drive out those Fox News panelists too, yuck.
