my small opinion is that if they would have listened to him, then the temple mount would not have been destroyed by Rome in AD 70 whatever.
it was one of the reasons he came - to try to stop the destruction of the temple mount, and I bet he forsaw it's demise at least potentially.
the zealots were stuck up on some hilly fortress defending themselves against the romans how many years later as well ? their technique did not work at all.
