Hickey Hiatus

I am leaving Iowa City on Sunday to drive to Phoenix. My wife's oldest sister is having a hip replacement and her husband has advanced Parkinson's. Both are in their eighties. So they'll be needing a boost, and we get to enjoy some warm weather and sunshine for several weeks.

That means I'll be getting ready tomorrow to get on the road, so blogging will be interrupted for a while and possibly light for some time, depending on how things go when we get there. Not quite sure yet what we are walking into.

  2. Thanks for reminding me, Dan. I'll bring my passport and keep a low profile.

Actually, what I am more concerned about is all the people packin' heat, considering the level of craziness there. I'll be keeping my head down.

  4. Thanks, Matt. We were originally planing to leave tomorrow and go through Flagstaff. Revised that plan since there is a better opening on Sunday, and we'll drop down south, too, instead of going over mountains. A bit longer but less chance of hitting bad weather. We did get caught in bad weather one January about ten years ago, and it was a harrowing experience I don't want to repeat. But we'll be driving an all-wheel drive Subaru Outback, which is really a great vehicle for when the terrain gets rough.

  11. Anon,

This is how deception works, ie how one is transformed into a moron.

The poll results state "to pay the bills", and people answered honestly.

Then this moron at the Coyote thing transforms that into "to support themselves", which the poll respondents did NOT agree to.

Agreeing to work "to pay bills" ie debt peonage, is NOT equivalent to working to "support oneself".

  13. Paying bills is debt peonage??!! Utilities, rent, cell phone, cable TV are all debt peonage? How ridiculous. Should they be given out for free?

  14. anon. its funny how a home is most peoples major purchase, its also funny how it takes most of a persons lifetime to pay off. a cell phone and cable is hardly debt peonage. a mortgage and massive student loans are.

  15. Anon,

"Should they be given out for free?"

Perhaps not. But if not, then FOR SURE the moron govt policy makers should at least facilitate the creation of enough USD balances to satisfy both domestic and zombie external savings desires AND allow for all of us to be able to consume what we produce...
