Adele M. Stan — Paul Ryan Called for Ending Social Security in Speech to Ayn Rand Fans

Ryan called Romney "inarticulate" for characterizing 47 percent of Americans as moochers. How would Ryan say it better? They're "collectivists."

Revealing. This really is a stealth campaign designed to fool the majority of voters about the hidden agenda of Romney and Ryan on behalf of the extreme rightwing. This is John Birch Society stuff. And Paul Ryan is the Koch candidate being groomed for the top office.

  2. You don't understand googlehiem, warren mosler said to think about the score. In a football game or a bowling alley, we need to be thinking about the score. You have pointed out some reality though googlehiem, you aren't thinking about score, you are thinking about real world resources.

I try to tell warren mosler that the bowling alley is filling up with homeless bums who are urinating all over the place. I try to tell him about the football field with 50 teams and 5000 fans all tackling each other. He keeps talking about the score.

Here I am in san diego today, i-5, i-8, the twisty maze of passages of roads, interchanges, bypasses, expressways, etc etc, it is pure MISERY. Why people choose to live like this is a mystery to me.

More cars, more roads, where is scientific research on how much road density is practical to maximize human happiness? Growth at all costs while we focus on score? I don't get it. I don't meet anyone in san diego that likes the traffic, so they have went way overboard for road development.

Yes, I don't get it. I officially don't get 'economy', 'economics' etc.

It makes less sense to me each day, the way people runs in life nowadays. Zero sense, nil, nada. I see happiness decreasing and problems rising, not the other way around.

And the more we 'economize' every discussion, every problem, every policy, the worse we are getting. I think in a couple of centuries or a bit more if humanity is to survive 'economics' would be seen as the troglodyte ideology that nearly destroyed humanity.

But we know its all about foundational flaws and axioms, for example when someone thinks they can run out of money. This 'moneyness' thing, and money concept, we have to change it completely before it destroys us, at some point we turned on reason and went the path of ideology and faith and the only thing that has prevented total disaster has been technological and scientific progress.

I hope that 'moneyness' and economicism are still unable to destroy progress like they have been unable in past centuries, because if we reach a period of stagnation of technological progress (which could happen) big trouble will happen with the current dominant zeitgeist and semantic-idealist corpus of thinking.

  4. " I see happiness decreasing and problems rising, not the other way around. "

    Right Lev.

But I think a lot of this is at core due to the general lack of settlement balances being provided by govt.

There is an old "Pennsylvania Dutch" saying over here that goes: "when the money is gone, love flies out the window"...

We have to get to the point where we collectively realize that the only constraints are real, and that our govt has to work to always provide fully adequate quantities of settlement balances to all of our citizens... if the balances were being adequately supplied, I dont think we would all be so caught up in all of this "economicsism" (btw that's a keeper!)

I think the west once knew this but effectively lost it somewhere along the way... maybe we can get it back.

  5. when the money is gone, love flies out the window

LOL! I am leaving my companion MATT FRANKO when the money is gone! Cause there is an ENDLESS SUPPLY of dumb suckers who will give me money for nothing when his cash hoard goes dry! In fact he should feel HONORED I let him blow his cash on me, cause if he doesn't feel honored by it, I will find 100 other mules who will!

Look, there are what 200 countries out there? A lot of the governments I look at say, how do we meet the demand of our populace, I don't see many that say, how do we shrink the supply of our populace, china used to do it, but then got a 90 million man surplus and realized that policy was gonna have disaster in the future.

Why does san diego need to grow with 10 million new humans and we plop down three times as many roads and 4 times as many cars as san diego has now, everyone is already FREAKING MISERABLE. This aint gonna end well.

It makes no sense to keep sending unlimited human production into warp speed 11, without being able to educate them fast enough, get them returning on coordination quick enough, pushing population levels faster than we can integrate resources and knowledge to serve them, we are FREAKING DOOMED! You start talking about population control and you get with terms like NAZI or the forced sterilization of the least of us (england already talking about sterilizing unemployed)

Too many PHUCKING people is my problem everywhere I go, the roads, the restuarants, the airports, the library, I am tired of them all, I just sit in Matts Basement all day now cause it too damn STRESSFUL to go out around so many crowds of people, this sucker is going down, something gotta give.

  6. I guess San Diego is like that night club Yogi Berra said no one goes to anymore because "Its too crowded ". There's really no point building new highway lanes, what's behind Google's driverless car is pretty awesome. Google these words, congestion pricing and active cruise control. Google's (and USDOT, who knows exactly what they're up to) goal is to hack the traffic jam.

IF I may abruptly change topics to Tom's post. Romney is toast. I think 2016's GOP race will shape up with Jeb Bush (who after all was always the competent brother) running as a compassionate conservative and Paul Ryan running as the Ayn Rand ubermensch.

  7. From 'The Blue Book of the John Birch Society':

"both the U.S. and Soviet governments are controlled by the same furtive conspiratorial cabal of internationalists, greedy bankers, and corrupt politicians. If left unexposed, the traitors inside the U.S. government would betray the country's sovereignty to the United Nations for a collectivist New World Order, managed by a 'one-world socialist government.'"

I don't understand this sort of right-wing view that sees "greedy bankers" as communists.

Yes the Eurozone is a sort of new world order affair, but it's controlled by banker plutocrats and right wing politicians, not communists.

It's precisely this sort of John Birch anti-society philosophy which delivers countries to the plutocrat overlords.

  8. BEOWULF :

    JEB / MITT

Mitt is there to make Jeb look compassionate.

Mitt is just blowing money and getting Mormones and other fringes back on the Bush trail.

Mitt is in cahoots with Bush family.

It's all rigged just like the currency markets, gas prices, cement prices, and all that jasss.

Agree. Jeb will have the demographics on his side, having a Latina wife and family, and speaking fluent Spanish. He would have run this time, probably successfully, if "Bush" weren't such a dirty word in the GOP still.

I think that the GOP will be in state of civil war by then, since the extreme right will be blaming the Establishment for forcing losers like Dole, McCain, and Romney on them. Ryan will definitely be the standard bearer of the Mises-Rothbard-Rockwell-Rand-Ron Paul Libertarian faction as well as extreme social conservatives, America First'ers. and white supremacists.

  11. I should add to the above that Jeb comes across to me as basically a good guy and person of principle with whom I don't agree but could work with as an opponent, while I view Ryan as a perfidious snake-in-the-grass, i.e., a politician of the basest sort, around whom one always has to watch one's back.

That makes no sense, Romney wants to be president and he's too rich to be bribed. He's in it to win it. Jeb Bush will pick up the pieces but that's just because Romney is blowing his big chance all on his own, the two aren't in cahoots on anything.

  13. beo,

I think we could tell this Ryan pick was a big mistake as soon as it happened.

doesnt look like Romney could "run to the center" with Ryan.

OTOH, Ive heard some rumors about 30 critical Counties where $1-2B will be spent over several last weeks that could still swing things Romney's way... but I dont have the particulars.

    Maybe politics is changing....

Matt, Karl Rove started out in direct marketing, in which it was realized that different market segments had to be approached differently to sell the same product. This led to the development of a sophisticated actuarial appraoch to campaigning county by county depending on the demographics and interests that polling revealed. The the Democrats found about about Rove's secret strategy and adopted it also. That's how the campaigns are run now. The basic foundation is motivating the base to show up and vote, and then to target voters with barrages of directed advertising in the few swing counties that will determine the election.

BTW, things not looking good for Romney at Intrade, which has O at 72% chance of winning today, and trending up.
