Thom Hartmann — Why Is Obama Taking Orders From A Secretive Billionaire?
Peter Peterson, founder and chairman of Peter G. Peterson Foundation. (Photo: Lingjing Bao / Talk Radio News)
The actual article is pretty hard hitting on Peterson, but it doesn't really address the question asked in the headline. I don't claim to know that answer, but I agree with the headline in that Obama has adhered to the Peterson line more faithfully than almost any other politician I can think of.
The Koch people are out of control libertarians and the Peterson people are rabid anti-authority...
The President looks to me as probably sympathetic to both of these views at some level, but more sympathetic to the anti-authority that Peterson represents ("We're out of money!") ... so that's the way he goes, if they have "money", so much the better...
Haven't been able to come up with a better word Paul...
Last time I checked a few months ago, SS was running at about breakeven, but Medicare/Medicaid were running at about a 250B-300B deficit...
So the Meds programs are responsible for creating most of the $NFA balances that this article asserts the Peterson people are after as motivation of some sort I guess... I guess what Hartmann asserts here as that the Peterson people are secretively trying to "privatize" these fiscal programs and then they will "make money" off of this somehow..
So what the Peterson people are advocating for is the destruction of the current main source of the $NFA that they are supposed to be zealously seeking in the first place...
So if this is what is really going on, they I'm afraid are morons because they are trying to eliminate one of the main sources of the very thing that they are allegedly after: $NFA.
Or, it could be the Peterson people are just anti-authority at all costs... like the Kochs just could be wild libertarians at all costs... they are all just crazies.
Like the wild eyed, uncivilized barbarian invaders in ancient times, ie the worlds first out of control libertarian/anti-authority people...
This continues to be the key question... Warren asks it often rhetorically: "dumb or subversive?"
I've been trying to be the 'devil's advocate' of sorts for the former.... Hartmann here and many others have the latter covered very well...
I'm starting to think they may be both ie 'dumb subversives'...
So what the Peterson people are advocating for is the destruction of the current main source of the $NFA that they are supposed to be zealously seeking in the first place... Matt Franko
Deflation helps those with hoards of cash but if that's Peterson's strategy he should read Matthew 25:14-30.
Matt, it's the fascists that shout most loudly about freedom when they know that economic "freedom" when coupled with the inviolability of private property "rights" leads to a take-over by those who control wealth through power. They are actually the most authoritarian of all. They just want the freedom to exercise the "right" to use the power that comes from acquisition of property rights and financial wealth to take over a society. They claim that is is not a matter of greed, but rather some are better than others and the great unwashed are better off being ruled by their betters.

rsp,
I see money still can't buy attractiveness.
ReplyDeleteHere's Obama in the broadcast booth of the 2009 MLB All-Star game: "We're out of money!"...
ReplyDeleteThis is textbook anti-authority Peterson 101...
rsp,
Now boys, play nice.
ReplyDeleteI see Bill Mitchell says "moron" a lot these days. Maybe he checks in here every now and then...naaah.
