North Carolina cops threaten to arrest charity groups for feeding the homeless (via Raw Story )
Charity groups in Raleigh, North Carolina are criticizing local police over what they call a sudden enforcement of a local ordinance prohibiting them from feeding the homeless. “The police are caught up in a system,” Rev. Hugh Hollowell told WRAL…

  1. Similar thing happening in ultra-liberal Iowa City, where the city council is controlled by business owners that want the homeless gone since they see it as bad for business.

    It's pretty disgraceful.

  2. They have to take it back inside the soup kitchens Tom...

perhaps get a van to shuttle them over to the soup kitchens if there is no affordable space in the downtown area where real estate costs are typically higher...

Or sometimes there is a church in the downtown areas that could perhaps be utilized...

They have to take it inside anyway as you have to deal with the weather might as well find a place nearby...

Or else being conspicuous about their "charitable works" is part of the program here...

the whole thing is a human embarrassment in my view, no good way in or out of this situation imo... rsp,

  3. Perhaps wrong question Bob...

    Luke 3 may be instructive:

"And the throngs inquired of him, saying "What, then, should we be doing?"
11 Now answering, he said to them, "(1)He who has two tunics, let him be sharing with him who has none, and let him who has food be doing likewise."
12 Now tribute collectors also came to be baptized, and they said to him, "Teacher, what should we be doing?"
13 Now he said to them, "(2) Impose nothing more than has been prescribed to you."
14 Now soldiers also inquired of him, saying, "What should we also be doing?" And he said to them, "You should be intimidating no one, (3) neither be blackmailing, and be sufficed with your rations."

Looks like the prophet John recommended:

    1. Take care of the immediate pressing needs (similar to what these people in NC are doing here...)

    2. Get the fiscal flows corrected...

    3. End government corruption...

As simple as "1,2,3" looks like... except for morons...

  5. Good points goog...

a lot of people seem to prefer to see it 'brushed under the rug'...

I dont know that area, but usually there are churches downtown where if it is a nice day outside, like seems to be in this picture, you could feed them outside on the church property in order to be exposing what is going on for perhaps 'the blind to see...'...
