ReplyDeleteThese issues are very hard to study and adjudicate objectively. Everyone thinks the curriculum should make room for their own particular areas of interest, and permit the airing of their own favorite theories and perspectives. But life and time are short, and value judgments about scholarly quality therefore must be made.
ReplyDeleteMore and more those decision are being taken out of the hands of academics and given to manager to save academics time for teaching and research. What effects this has had on academia?
