Gary Brecher — The War Nerd: Everything you know about Crimea is wrong(-er)
According to Paul Craig Roberts, Crimea is not the goal. The objective is the partition of Ukraine, and installation of anti-ballistic systems in the western portion.
An earlier analysis indicated that Ukraine is but a sideshow designed to allow military intervention/regime change in Syria and Iran.
Part of the role of pundits is to make silly pronouncements from time to time.
PCR is a pundit, too. The challenge is to put all the views together into something that is reasonably true.
So far the picture is to cloudy to tell much and events are also moving very quickly.
The downside is that this has the potential to become WWIII through some mishap that no one really wants. There are rogue elements involved, it appears.
You can bet that there are fingers on nuclear triggers on both sides right now. This is a very dangerous time. The good news is that Obama and Putin are still in close contact and hopefully could defuse any incendiary situation.
Be thankful that Obama beat McCain or it's likely that NATO would be preparing to roll into Ukraine now. That would be "destabilizing" on the level of the Cuban missile crisis.
