TASS — Islamic State militants plan to set up their own currency
The coins will be minted from pure gold and silver as it was done in early Islam
TASS is the government news org which positions itself similar to BBC in the UK.
RT is also sponsored by the Russian government. You could say it is Russia's version of PBS as an independent media org with state funding. RT is fully state funded whereas PBS has largely been defunded since conservatives considered it too liberal. More dependent on contributions, PBS has become more beholden to corporate donors.
Ria Novosti was the Russian news agency. It was recently folded into Rossiya segodnya, which combines the former Ria Novosti and radio Voice of Russia., comparable to Voice of America.
Moscow News is a liberal-opposition news org. I guess one could compare it with Murdoch owned news media that advocate for neoliberal interests and the New York Times as a liberal organ.
BTW, Russia Insider is privately owned and operated by ex-pats living in Russia.
This site got started this past summer when a group of expats living in Russia for many years began thinking about what we might do to address a worsening and dangerous problem.
The problem is that the western media present an inaccurate, incomplete, and unrealistically negative picture of Russia, and an incorrect narrative of the past 20 years, since the fall of communism.
It seems to us that this has led to profound policy mistakes by the US and Europe, confusion and misperception.
Russia is a much more appealing, compelling, and complex story than what is being reported.

Well I would add that I was talking to a usmc o-6 I ran into the other day and chatted him up and interestingly what he mentioned was a concern in the community that somehow Russia would end up getting directly involved in going to war against these jihadists. ..
they didn't want to see that scenario develop , thought it would be grossly mishandled by the Russians . So it struck me here that at least TASS thinks they at war with ISIS... rsp
Didnt work out that well for their Babylonian ancestors and looks like is what may have helped put them in their current POS dried camel chip oriented economy in the first place:
"17 Behold Me rousing against them the Medes, who are not accounting silver, And gold - they are not delighting in it. (Isaiah 13:17)
TIP: dont give up on the sharia as youre certainly not going to become an economic dynamo any time soon...
This is interesting how TASS puts this story under the heading:
ReplyDelete"FIGHT AGAINST ISLAMIC STATE"
???
Tom is TASS the govt news? or is it owned by western media?
RT is pro Putin right?
What is TASS' angle? Because whatever faction it represents thinks it is "fighting the ISIS"...
rsp,
Next step: to declare gold and silver milkshakes Halal. :-)
ReplyDeleteAfter that they'll find converts in the West very easily: the blue-skinned people.
