Robert Parry — NYT Shows How Propaganda Works

Of course, the media is just carrying water for the interested parties. Inquiring minds wonder if there is a price tag associated with this. See, for example, the Leading German Journalist Admits CIA ‘Bribed’ Him and Other Leaders of the Western ‘Press’ and Operation Mockingbird. With state media, one knows at least that there is an admitted bias. But in the case of a so-called free press? Fox News makes a mockery of that, which is quite evident. But the Grey Lady. Bill Blacks recent exposure of bias there makes one wonder what the basis for it is. It's common knowledge that only a compliant press gets access but some of this goes beyond being compliant. Is this the only class interest, or is there also a pecuniary interest in cases where propaganda is evidently involved?

  1. We're in uncharted territory, most of us tune in to the place where the facts are put through a sieve, and the best ones selected to fit our world view. A few opinions thrown in to distill those cherry picked ideas and it all gels into a magical realism that would impress the greatest Latin American writers.

The world is neat and tidy this way, nothing has to challenge our views. JPM Chase plays Fox news in their lobby, and I actually sort wince as I see it playing because I find it so entirely appalling and at odds with what I read, well here, for example.
