Alexrpt — The US House of Representatives openly calls for regime change in Moscow

As taken from the US House Resolution:
"Whereas the United States and its allies need a long-term strategy to expose and challenge Vladimir Putin’s corruption and repression at home and his aggression abroad;"
Let that sink in for a second. The United States Congress has put, in writing, their goal to formulate a “long term strategy” to challenge the democratically elected President of Russia, Vladimir Putin.
Like this is something new for the US? I'm surprised that anyone is surprised.

  1. "Challenging" a pattern of governing is not the same thing as changing a regime. You're overreacting.

  2. Looks pretty much like the same thing as that directed at Castro, Saddam, Assad, Gaddafi, Maduro, etc.

They aren't talking about changing Putin's pattern of governing but replacing Putin with a complaint figurehead.

  4. Matt, I don't think that the US leadership and media personalized it with the leaders of the USSR, excepting Stalin, the way they have recently with Putin ("Putler"). The enemy was the "reds" and "atheistic Communism" rather than a single leader that needed to be removed in order to change the situation to favorable.

The message they are sending now is that Russia would be OK without Putin, who has seized the reins as an authoritarian dictator. Moreover, I suspect that a lot of them believe this and would be surprised to see a " what they would regard as Putin clone, like Ivanov or Shoygu, taking over instead.

They seem to believe that they can just install someone like Khodorkovsky or Navalny, neither of whom have wide public support and zero support if not opposition in the establishment.

What is most interesting though is that in US eyes, the solution lies in either replacing an existing government with oligarchs or military favorable to cooperating with the West in order to enrich themselves at the expense of their country and countrymen. This is the neoliberal agenda for globalization under the guise of expanding "freedom and democracy."
