Spineless Democrats cave again. What a fucking useless party.
This is really so upsetting. The Democrats are a useless party. Spineless, weak, cowards..deceitful bastards. This is a total giveaway to big corporate. It risks our environment, labor laws, intellectual property, etc. The whole entire Congress is bought...useless. That goes for Obama, too. Worst. President. Ever. Lying backstabbing sonofabitch.
What the fuck do we have/need a government for? This is EXACTLY why I don't vote. What the fuck is the use? Republicans, Democrats...it's all the same shit.
Terrible. The democratic process should identify the winners and losers of the agreement and provide some of spoils of the winners to the losers. If the democrats had balls, they'd have demanded increases in pell grants and free university education for all workers laid off in areas like manufacturing, professional services like accounting and engineering and other heavily impacted industries -- and the industries like media, tech and government workers that benefit from the agreement.
ReplyDeleteAll the bluster was to be able to say they tried in the coming election cycle. But as always, follow the money.
ReplyDeleteThis image doesn't link to anything.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure why anyone would expect different at this point.
ReplyDeleteIt should be crystal clear by now that US Federal Government will never ever act in the interest of the shitizens and acts only in the interest of the merchant class and is totally without the capacity to have a single regard toward national interest and the general welfare.
The American people have one enemy and it is the United States Federal Government and until it is ended the prospects for a better life in America are forever gone. Revolution or Death are the only choices left.
The military is 18 months away from invisible cloaks and once those are in place their power can never be challenge as they will literally have an army of invisible assassins. So it's 18 months to revolution or a boot stomping on humanity till extinction. Smart money is extinction.
The image is a fake, put together on one of those meme-crap sites. So far they have only made a deal to approve fast track. TPP can still be defeated even if fast track is approved, in the House if not the Senate.
ReplyDeleteThe House of Reps doesn't get a say. Only 2/3 of senate is required to ratify-- the only requirement is that it doesn't conflict with the constitution itself. Unfortunate because under the constitution a treaty is equivalent to a constitutional amendment, it will supersede and replace all other conflicting laws and become the law of the land, as if it were written in the constitution itself. They are very hard, if not impossible, to un-do without dismantling the government in Washington DC itself.
ReplyDeleteIf the TPP is fast-tracked, both houses of Congress still have to vote on it. They just can't amend it.
ReplyDeleteCongress can withdraw from any treaty it has entered into by simply voting to repeal it.
Where are you being fed this ignorant hysteria?
TPP is also not a proposed treaty. Like other such trade deals, it is a "congressional-executive agreement", which means both houses vote on it.
ReplyDeleteDan, it will be passed. And what are you making such a big fuss about this image? What's your problem?
ReplyDeleteThe President is a big proponent of it and iirc so is Hillary.... Dems will do it eventually
ReplyDeleteThe resistance is from factions on the right (isolationists) and left (US labor)
Where are you being fed this ignorant hysteria?
ReplyDeleteSection 2 of the Constitution. (Ignorant hysteria? -- You must be a trained economist!)
The Senate is not allowed to delegate its constitutional power to the House. They can allow the house to have an advisory vote but it is only ceremonial with no power. Fast trak or no fast trak doesn't matter.
The Constitution doesn't specify how a treaty is to be repealed from law. Presidents have done it, congress has done and both always scream bloody murder and challenge the others authority.
A great article this morning on bloomberg, Goldman Sachs is concerned revolving door government corruption is hurting it's business.
ReplyDeleteThat's how bad it is in Washinton DC. The company that built its business on the revolving door can't even function because it is so lawless and corrupt.
There is no legitimacy to the Washington DC government anymore. Regulators and Business people and Professors waltz in and out of power, research, business without any real limitations. It's every man for himself now. Get while the getting is good.
Sounds like a collapse in slow motion Ryan. All over the West the same crap.
ReplyDeleteIs just "free market" and capitalism gone out of control. The ultimate idea of sociological Darwinism carried to its last consequence: the collapse of the nations perpetuating this poisonous system.
A completely dysfunctional state, is like when the USSR collapsed, except now there isn't 'the other block' to run to, to look for guidance.
Sad state of affairs indeed, and then we ask while ISIS is on the raise or chaos in the world is ever increasing. the current system has run its course, time to move.
