Alexrpt — Varoufakis, ‘During my time working in the Eurozone, I encountered evil that would be impossible to make up’
I imagine those who have had to deal with Varoufakis in the EZ would respond with something like, “During my time negotiating with Varoufakis I encountered self-pitying, self-serving, wind, waffle and hot air that would be impossible to make up.”
I say that because I’ve actually read some of Varoufakis’s articles. They are just that: self-pitying, self-serving hot air. But credit where credit is due: that’s probably Varoufakis’s optimum strategy. After all he’s an expert in game theory. I.e. his optimum strategy is to use emotional blackmail to borrow as much money as possible from other countries and then not pay it back. That’s what Greece has been doing for 200 years now.
Henry Wotton said “An ambassador is an honest man sent abroad to lie and intrigue for the benefit of his country.” Varoufakis is an excellent ambassador (in the most cynical sense of the word).

'Knowing' this, German banks still merrily and irresponsibly lent.
