Egypt is just the natural result of the amazing imbalances in a society that are proximately caused by government welfare schemes and the evisceration of private property and contract rights resulting in the lack of informed economic calculation.
ReplyDeleteNot the result of a military dictatorship that owns anything up to half the wealth of Egypt, has almost no interest in developing an economy (or competition) that does not benefit the military elite, that restricts civil liberties, encourages Islamists in their battle against godless secularism and liberalism?
ReplyDeleteThe wheat subsidies were a measure to stave off mass starvation and thus revolution. This military dictatorship are neoliberals par excellence, and so the wheat subsidies have to go. Irish potato famine here we come.
Well I dont know about all of that Bob but it sure looks like the result of 10+years of oil rent trickling down and replacing productive contribution across the board...
ReplyDeleteYou have to look at this and think "is the JG superior to the BIG?"
