Poll — 2/3 of Russians say USSR could have won WWII without Allies

Two-thirds of Russians believe that the USSR could have claimed victory in the Great Patriotic War without the help of the Allies. This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the All-Russian Center for Studying Public Opinion.
“67% of those polled are convinced that the Soviet Union could have claimed victory in the Second World War without anyone else’s aid. The opposite opinion is shared by 27%,” the report says.

The findings of the Levada Center poll, conducted among 2,400 people across Russia May 20-23, contain little new data other than Turkey's inclusion in the top enemies list. Until recently, a majority of Russians viewed Turkey either neutrally or positively.

According to polling data going back a number of years, the United States has long been seen by a considerable part of the Russian population as a potential threat and a “source of global evil.”

Poll: Russians See US, Ukraine, Turkey as Top 3 Enemies

In this outtake, Putin outs the West in supporting Chechen separatism in Russia during the 1990s and early 2000s. Having weakened the country, the US withdrew from the 1972 Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty, assuming that Russia would never again pose a nuclear threat to US hegemonic power. It continued to build up its nuclear capability, and today inches closer to Russia's borders.
In the absence of an exterior threat, Putin went on to say that the Washington-orchestrated coup in the Ukraine was done to justify the existence of an ever-expanding NATO bloc, under the pretext of the mythical "Russian aggression."
