A few weeks after the May coup against Dilma Rousseff by conservative parties backed by the country's largest corporations, Brazil's “interim” government, led by Michel Temer, signed an emergency loan to the State of Rio de Janeiro to help finance infrastructure for the 2016 Olympics – in particular for a subway line connecting the sports venues. Imo if it were being held in a legitimate jurisdiction they would both be going no problemo....
Has there even been one case anywhere ever where water privatization didn't end in disaster for people?
ReplyDeleteAnd frankly, after a coup like that, the Olympics really should be boycotted. Coups shouldn't be considered civilized behaviour. But then again the Olympics generally work out pretty nasty for the people who live in the host city. Not really a civilized affair in total.
