  1. Malmo, I owe you a beer! Talk about "cleaning her clock"! Malmo called it perfectly. I guess he simply had the same gut feeling I had with Brexit: it's gonna happen, no matter what scare tactics and establishment support they throw at it.

I thought with all the stupid shit Trump said, he blew it. I guess, ordinarily he would, but many working class Americans decided that with nothing to lose, fuck it and bring the temple down.

  2. John,

My call was 100% gut, with more than a little timing and luck.

Since Nixon in 72, my gut has never failed me in presidential elections. I cant explain why either. Didn't hurt him that THE October surprise of a private sex talk caught on tape and several dubious bimbo accusers coming out at the last hour were no more effective than a Led Zeppelin. That was a dumb DNC strategy that in the end backfired.

How he won with even many in his own party working against him along with 99% of the ruling class is frankly stunning. I suppose the perfect storm of revelations regarding his corrupt opponent (thanks Wikileaks) largely did the trick. In short, Clinton was an awful candidate and Trump got better, if not more vanilla, as time went on. His campaign manager also somehow had him reading off a teleprompter instead of his infamous extemporaneous outbursts at rallys. Worked like a charm.

Trump was and is the perfect storm for the time....President Trump that is :)

  3. I didn't expect him to win before the whole FBI thing I completely discounted it gotta be honest, but after that I wasn't so sure anymore.

HRC and the incompetent DNC screwed it up with their strategy trying to cover it up until the end instead of letting the whole thing die a slow death during months. The only candidate she could win against and still managed to lose.

Good riddance to her and the Democratic Oligarchic party, hopefully this will be the beginning of the end and will end up for the (neo)liberals within the party.

Wait for Germany and French elections to see the big fireworks.

The ruling class is just too arrogant and dumb to learn anything, we can always count on them shooting themselves in the foot, unfortunately this is usually detrimental to us the plebe. Will this be the case with Trump?

I always doubted he would made a worse president than Killary, which was almost guaranteed hot war with Russia. At least we can postpone the apocalypse for now.

Clearly the greatest political upset and political event in modern history. It's truly mindboggling that he came out on top, but Americans have just had enough of the establishment and have given Washington a nightmare in the shape of Trump. I hope he can put aside all his many faults and see the bigger picture. If he has any sense, he can go down as the GOP's FDR, another truly great president. We'll see if he can look past himself and thing about his country and the 319 million Americans, many of whom are suffering and see him as their last hope. The one thing I can see happening is the GOP making Trump's life as miserable as Obama's by blocking everything he proposes, hoping that he'll come to heel. If not, that'll lead to a battle royale confrontation and the splintering of the GOP.

As I've said before, Trump is, to put it mildly, highly flawed, but he is quite possibly the only person of doing something about the hopelessness many Americans face. I wish him all the best, because he may need it with a GOP that sought to elect Killary! And in any case, most of the fanfare stuff he's promised is clearly unachievable - but then we said that about Trump standing for election, Trump winning the nomination and then finally, shockingly, winning the presidency!

  6. I didn't think he would win, although I was suspicious of the polls. Michael Moore called it when he was playing devil's advocate in Michigan. It was the Rust Belt that finally gave the Dems and their union lackeys the finger, and put Trump over the top.

I would say that if there is an overarching factor here is it opposition to neoliberal globalization coupled with the cluelessness of the elites running the show in the various countries and international institutions, along with the cronyism and corruption involved.

The people at large are saying, enough is enough.

So I think this presidential election was about voting against more than voting for. It was not a wave election. Other than a few notable exceptions, incumbents were returned to office down ballot.

The GOP now controls then presidency, congress, the federal judiciary and the bureaucracy, as well as holding the majority of governorships and state legislatures. The ball is in their court.

No one really knows at this point how Trump will govern, since he has sent some mixed signals that don't seem compatible.

The first indication will be the people he appoints. The second will be how much a hands-on guy he is rather than delegating.

Trump is known as a negotiator and deal maker rather than a manager. Politics is very much the art of the deal. He could excel at it if he can adapt to it quickly enough. The big question here is the learning curve.
