Summary: As US politics becomes a cacophony of lies and nonsense (now descending into street violence), we need to know that it can be better. This post reminds us of Saul Alinsky’s famous “Rules for Radicals”, which will work for any political movement. Some Alinsky excerpts. It's short and worth a read.

Our Right & Left have lost their way. Saul Alinsky points to a better politics.

Paul Pot was a 'young radical'. So forgive me for being skeptical that better politics will emerge from applying the advice from this book.
ReplyDeleteIt's a bit of a stretch to think Alinsky's advice leads to "Paul" Pot. I think a few more things factor in to that type of outcome.
ReplyDeleteRadicals of all stripes have the necessary ingredients: ideology and a scapegoat.
ReplyDeleteSometimes they have good intentions. Those kinds of radicals, the "true believers", are worse than sociopaths.
We MUST preserve the status quo! Thank god we don't have any non-radical sociopaths running things.
ReplyDeleteWe have all types - from Obama to Trump to Pence to McCain. Thank god Trump is just a con man.

ReplyDeleteYes, but Trump seems to have abdicated, having been shown how the game actually works. Now the question is who is in charge?
I was listening to an interview with Paul Craig Roberts and they were discussing Mike Pence's visit to the DMZ. To the best of his recollection, PCR said that a vice president would never be the one to make the kinds of statements that Pence made. It would normally be left to the president or the secretary of state.
ReplyDeleteTrump has already abdicated. He's now a figurehead, which is probably just fine with him. He apparently told Kasich that he could run things as VP if he accepted and Trump won. Kasich would have been a better president than Pence.
