Macron Is Doing Merkel’s Dirty Work With Russia Over Syria

Europe is rethinking its role in Syria, and Macron is able to say things that Merkel can’t directly without causing more tensions within NATO

French President Emmanuel Macron’s statement yesterday changes the game in Syria.
Until yesterday France had been the most vocal supporter of U.S. regime change policy in Syria. Now it is its most pragmatic critic.

This signifies a multitude of changes geopolitically.

First, it dovetails with German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s statement that the EU should no longer consider the U.S. a reliable partner in foreign affairs. The EU will, indeed, pursue a more independent foreign policy.

But, more importantly, it opens the door wide for a growing rapprochement with Russia that began with Merkel right after her meeting with Donald Trump back in March. We’re seeing the dam break now in Europe to defy U.S. policy in the Middle East and with Russia.

As the narratives erected by the U.S. oligarchy crumble, EU leadership sees the opportunity to jump ship and save their reputation while leaving the U.S. holding the bag.

If reports are true that Iran is ready to provide damning proof that the U.S. is backing ISIS in Syria (which is all but confirmed anyway) then backing away from regime change there is simply good politics.

  1. One possible strategy for preventing the unraveling of NATO would be to start a war with Russia, forcing NATO members to pick a side.

As there are not any adults involved in the process…

  2. Yes, Tom put out an article recently where the journalist said that the neocons don't want to start a hot war with Russia, they want a tepid war where they draw Russia in to march in on a country, like maybe the Ukraine. Then they well be able to say to Europe, look how bad Russia is, and they hope that this will strengthen NATO and that they will be able to sell $billions worth of weapons.

War is just a money making racket. But European intelligence can't be that stupid, they must know what's going on. We've just got to hope that the European aristocracy feel that they can make more money by getting cheap gas from Russia and that they need their markets.

Keeping NATO going strong is a major reason for manufacturing Russophobia. It's a strategy and it's supported by the military-industrial complex that is profiting handsomely from it. Even morons should be able to see this, let alone those with activated crap detectors.

    1. Too many European politicians and people in the ruling class make their money out of being tied to the US. This is how vassal states work, the ruling elite do well out of the arrangement. Lets hope sense prevails.
