Robert Parry — Spoiling for a Wider War in Syria

America’s neocons are back pounding the war drums, urging President Trump to escalate U.S. military attacks inside Syria even if that means hitting Russian targets and risking a new world war, reports Robert Parry.
Not just the neocons, but also the usual suspects, the liberal interventionists now led by HRC and the war hawks led by John McCain.

Libertarians, Alt Right and Trump supporters in general are apoplectic, while the Left remains absorbed in Russophobia and US identity politics.

The public at large?  Either asleep, or absorbed in some celebrity whatever.

Trump? Leave it to the generals, the people that haven't won a peace since WWII.

Spoiling for a Wider War in Syria

Should read, "How the US Elite Use Fear of Russia Is Used To Mislead Americans." There, fixed it for you.

Dennis Bernstein interviews whistleblower Thomas Drake.
DB: What are the multiple dangers of the way in which information is used now, and slanted to support policy as opposed to inform?
TD: Well, it’s self-interest. It’s largely self-interest driven. You have, what I have sometimes called Gov-Corp, which is a combination of government and corporations and it’s an extraordinarily pathological relationship because they feed on each other. One protects the other and when you have the government corrupting itself to serve very powerful interests at the expense of public interests, guess what?
Guess what? While Drake does not use the word, I will. Fascism.

  1. It's totally depressing. People stay calm because they think the good guys are in charge, but we here know the 'good guys' are the bad guys which means no hope. Apart from George Galloway and Ron Paul no politician is speaking up. No wonder the public are asleep.

The Western public think that Assad is a brutal dictator and there is a civil war going on in Syria. Little do they know that the rebels are various jihad militia armies backed by the US through its proxies. On Veterans Today they had US manuals that were used to train the Mujahedeen. The US had been backing these terrorists ever since.

Why are some politicians speaking. Maybe because no one is going to believe a conspiracy this big. Surely many of these politicians know what's going on. And there is hardly anyone in MDM informing people too, apart from Robert Fisk. I tried to get Robert Fisk's email address but I couldn't find it.

  2. Trump said there would be lots of "winning", this must be it.

Assad ain't no sweetie, nor was his dad. You don't stay in power in the ME by being a 'soft touch'.

    1. I might consider myself gullible as Assad seems okay do me. I think he would have made a good understanding British doctor. And Paul Craig said the same thing about Assad in an interview he gave some while back. Assad's regime is tough, which he inherited. Like you say, you don't stay in power long in the ME if your nice.

You don't stay in power anywhere, even at the Vatican, by being a soft touch.

They are all thugs of one sort or another. It goes with the territory.

  5. NZ is a US vassal and a member of Five Eyes, the intel services of the US, UK, Canada, Australia a dm NZ that run the world under the direction of the US. All key players in the thuggery.

Belize and Bhutan are tiny and just blips on the screen so power projection is not a big issue there.

Costa Rica voted some time ago to forego a military in favor education.

Belize, Bhutan, and Costa Rica are somewhat enlightened countries, and provide exceptions to the rule.

Moreover, they are not cursed with resources that others covet, so they can live and let live.

The ironic thing is that so-called Christians do run the world, but they don't understand or practice the teaching of the master.

So-called Buddhist do rule other countries and they are not all good rulers that follow the teaching the master either.

It's the level of universality of consciousness. Love is the great unifier.

In Christianity Satan is the tempter and in Buddhism it is Mara. Both signify the limited ego and its selfish, narrow desires.

The Mt 4:5-8, Satan tempts Jesus with worldly power and riches if Jesus will worship him, and Jesus says, "Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve."

Who are the so-called Christian leaders listening to, their master or their egos?

There is a similar stories about the demon Mara tempting Buddha with seductive women.

In the West, Buddhists are often idealized as all being virtuous, but where Buddhism is strong, there are many types of Buddhists just as in other traditions.
