Col Wilkerson's speech 31 Aug 2017
Col. Wilkerson for president, I say. He's a Republican but he sounds like a social democrat. Just listen to the opening of part 2 to see if you're going to like it.
I can't find the reasons why, but Colonel Pat Lang who knew Wilkerson has no like or respect or whatever for him. I mean, Lang just wasted him. I've been looking for the stuff I read in the last six months and can't find it. But Lang wiped the floor with him.
I was really shocked by Lang's comments. Until then I had been a big Wilkerson supporter. Lang's remarks were so trenchant, got to admit they shocked me.
One thing I've wondered about Wilkerson is why did it take him so long to become a critic? He was a grown-ass man when he was Colin Powell's chief of staff, so he had to have known the whole wmd and mobile weapons lab stuff was a load of horseshit, but he went along with it anyways. Was he just a true believer until some sort of epiphany? Did he just lack the courage until his conscience got the better of him? But to his credit, he now says Cheney should be in jail and that if it's determined that he has culpability he would accept any punishment too. "I’d be willing to testify, and I’d be willing to take any punishment I’m due" https://www.democracynow.org/2011/8/30/ex_bush_official_col_lawrence_wilkerson
“the whole wmd and mobile weapons lab stuff was a load of horseshit,“
Right they should have just taken the other nation down without kow-towing to the weak willed...
And you guys are mis reading Trump if you think he is rolling over or something...
He’s a counter puncher of his own mind... we’re in a dangerous situation as far as if some piss ant nation takes a shot at us he’s going to probably overwhelmingly respond...
I don't understand your point Matt. Wilkerson has a conscience now, but not then... of course they had to feed everyone a giant load of shit to start a war, but what's that got to do with Wilkerson's change of heart?
Um... I said that. As was the uranium from Niger, drones potetially being used to spray bio weapons over American cities, sarin and vx nerve gas everything ahmed chalabi ever said, mushroom clouds. The entire thing. Horseshit. From start to finish.. Wilkerson would have had to have known this... or maybe they all believed their own lies, you're always the easiest person to fool.
Maybe he knew, maybe he didn't, maybe he had reservations. Powell got badly splattered by the WMD fiasco. But soldiers take orders, it doesn't matter what they think. They're not supposed to, they're expendable.
Putting a military man in the WH is a huge mistake. They control pretty much everything already. And it perpetuates the idea that we need to be on a military footing (even more than we already are. Remember Ike.
I really admire Col Wilkerson. He's a smart and thoughtful man, but he still believes the US borrows from China and is going bankrupt.
ReplyDeleteToo much integrity to be president.

ReplyDeleteDon't forget Lang was someone who never bought what Colin Powell did about the aluminum tubes or whatever it was Powell discussed at the UN.

Powell wasn't in the WH. He was in the State Department.
