Reuters — Trump launches effort to boost U.S. weapons sales abroad

The Trump administration rolled out a long-awaited overhaul of U.S. arms export policy on Thursday aimed at expanding sales to allies, saying it will bolster the American defense industry and create jobs at home.

  1. Boeing, Lockheed, Raytheon, et. al. are losing so badly to foreigners that they are once again ordering Trump to save them.

Russian merchandise is far cheaper and far more effective than is American trash (e.g. the useless Patriot missile, or the F-35 boondoggle).

American military contractors produce trash because they are used to getting ever-larger contracts for ever-worsening garbage. They deliberately stretch out the developmental phase of every new weapons system so that cost overruns never stop growing. For example, the F-35 program was started 26 years ago, and it’s STILL not workable.

Such failures are intentional, since they are lucrative. As long as the military budget keeps growing by an extra $80 billion each year, the contractors have nothing to worry about in the USA. And their multi-billion-dollar scams will continue forever, because military contractors kick back some of those endless billions to congressmen.

Outside the USA, however, foreign nations will not buy useless and overpriced garbage. Instead, foreign nations want things like Russian S-300 and S-400 defensive missiles. India just signed a $6 billion deal to buy S-400 systems.

(Saudi Arabia agreed to buy the useless Patriot trash, but only in order to maintain U.S. support for the war on Yemen. Contrary to Saudi lies, the Patriot system has not been able to intercept a single warhead launched from Yemen at Riyadh.)

The US arms export industry is in so much trouble from foreign competition that the latest round of US sanctions (imposed 6 April 2018) was aimed at Rostec (a Russian government-owned tech conglomerate) plus thirty Russian companies.

A division of Rostec is Rosoboronexport, which is Russia's top defense corporation. Rosoboronexport has pushed US military contractors out of the way, around the world, because Russian products are cheaper and far superior.

In response, US contractors could improve their product quality, but instead they are ordering Trump to impose even more sanctions on Russian companies. US contractors want to keep their market share, while they cut Russia out of the global arms market.

It’s all about “freedom and democracy” and “human rights” and the “responsibility to protect,” and “protecting the children,” and blah-blah-blah.

Foreign nations want defensive systems that actually work. They do not want American junk. Nor do they want drones and missiles and other things designed to kill civilians in occupied nations. They will not pay for useless sh*t.
