  1. Assange has not yet been charged with anything in the USA. When Assange is evicted, Trump will have the power to pardon him, or to commute his sentence.

Of course, this would require Trump to grow a spine.

    Still, miracles do happen.

After all, we dodged Hillary didn’t we?

Glenn Greenwald suggests that Assange might not be sent to the USA after all, since it would be a bit too blatant. Instead, Assange could spend his life in a British prison, isolated and silenced.

  2. Greenwald's scenario of Assange challenging extradition and waiting years in prison sounds likely.

Trying Assange publicly would provide the opportunity to air a lot of dirty laundry not to mention stir up a hornet's nest of opposition, not the least of which would be backed by the media since it concerns a free press.

So if they are smart (they aren't) they will try to submerge this.

  3. backed by the media since it concerns a free press

The media is the illusion of free press. Anything they do at this point is going to reinforce that illusion.
