President Putin: "Of course, there are certain issues concerning the development of missile technology in the world and the restrictions which only the US and the USSR, then the Russian Federation undertook. But what are we concerned about? We are concerned that the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty was terminated. Now we are talking about the treaty on intermediate-range and short-range missiles."

Europe Will Become a Battlefield: Putin Bluntly Explains What Discarding INF Treaty Means
Is this just about more profits for the military-industrial- complex? I have read that the U.S. is hoping to bankrupt Russia by getting it into a new nuclear arms race.

The US used the Cold War to bankrupt the Soviet Union. What nobody has seemed to have noticed is that the US bankrupted itself at the same time - as evidenced by the erosive decline in everything from infrastructure to life expectancy.
ReplyDeleteThe Russians learned from the Cold War and built a military based on technically-adept economically-efficient systems of defense.
The US meanwhile is lugging around a vastly overbloated military overequiped with hugely expensive dysfunctional equipment that they try to pawn off on everyone else at top dollar. They haven't won a war since 1945 (if you don't Grenada).
The lunatics are in charge, WWIII is on the horizon.
“They haven't won a war since 1945”
ReplyDeleteYo we have the technical capabilities to kill everyone there in a few days tops....
I think the recent North Korea situation might have revealed we have a gap in range and yields as far as tactical nuclear warheads...
ReplyDeleteTo take NK out we might have been forced to use something too big.... not ideal for detonation so close to and right in between China and Japan...
We may think we need more selection in target ranges, delivery options and yields...
I mis-timed my previous comment.

ReplyDeleteRussia doesn't?

To be technically correct the US did not win WWII. It beat Japan, but the war in Europe was won by the Soviet Union.
