RUSSIA warned Donald Trump military action backing Venezuela opposition leader Juan Guaido would be a “path to lawlessness and bloodshed”.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said US intervention would be “catastrophic”. Mr Trump waded into the Venezuelan crisis with a bombshell tweet backing Mr Guaido, who declared himself president on Wednesday. Nicolas Maduro, who still lays claim to power after leading the oil-rich nation since 2013, has given US diplomats 72 hours to leave the country.
And the US president ramped up the pressure by refusing to rule out military action.
Mr Ryabkov said: “We warn against that.
“We consider that would be a catastrophic scenario that would shake the foundations of the development model which we see in Latin America.
Bolivia, Cuba, Mexico, Turkey and China have joined Russia in supporting Mr Marduro.
But Russian lawmakers said US support to oust Mr Maduro from power would be seen as backing an illegal coup d'etat.

Trump wants a war because he thinks it will 'improve his ratings'.
ReplyDeleteTrump is a buffoon, without question. But anybody who thinks that he is actually in charge of anything more than picking out his own socks is seriously deluded.

ReplyDeleteI agree.
Incidentally many U.S. Embassies now fly a "gay pride" rainbow flag along with the U.S. flag in nations that are not LGBTQXYZ-submissive. The U.S. government does this to insult the local people.
So much for Trump being a "homophobe." See, for example, the U.S. embassy in Caracas Venezuela.

Venezuelan President Maduro says all U.S. personnel must leave that embassy by 12:01 am on Saturday.
The US government refuses to withdraw anyone. This will be interesting.
UPDATE
ReplyDeleteI just learned that US embassies fly “gay pride” flags sometimes, but not all times. They do it at times like “gay pride week,” when the USA says “fu*k you” to foreign societies’ morals. Of course, the USA dares not do this in Saudi Arabia.
In the last Congress, Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-SC) submitted H.R. 6450, the “Old Glory Only Act,” which would allow only the US flag to be flown at US embassies. It died, but on 3 Jan 2019 Rep. Duncan re-submitted it to the new Congress.
US Sec. of State Pompeo says that no US personnel will leave Caracas, but Sputnik says Pompeo has ordered all non-emergency State Dept employees in to leave Venezuela.
Russia will do N-O-T-H-I-N-G, just like they do nothing against U.S. missile strikes in Syria or, Israeli airstrikes.
ReplyDeleteRussia doesn't have to do anything, they are doing quite well.
