The Jimmy Dore Show - BBC Reporter Corrects US Media on Venezuela W/Greg Palast

Greg Palast is one of my favourites, whose books are so well written and entertaining to read that they are like reading a good novel.

He says that with Venezuela it's only about the oil. The Koch Brothers have in Texas  two of the largest oil refineries in the world which can only process the most dirty oil, but Texas has only has very high grade oil. So, the Koch Brothers have been getting dirty tar sand oil from Canada and have been building a pipeline to bring it down - right over the U.S. clean drinking water supply. As Obama was taking too long to build the pipeline, the Kochs backed Trump instead, but the pipeline still hasn't been finished.

Hugo Chavez being a good businessman saw he had leverage and so put a premium on the Venezuelan very crude oil he sold to the Koch Brothers, which they were not happy about. Hey, that's capitalism, right - price and demand? Anyway, now the brothers are trying to remove Maduro to get the oil cheaper by any method necessary. Well, maybe that's capitalism too.

Britain wanted a cut of the oil for its own oil company, BP, but Maduro said get lost, and right after the UK seized Venezuela's gold. The old imperialist pirates, buccaneers, and bandits are still at it - even after all these centuries. It worked so well in the past, I guess.

Jimmy Dore says the conservatives were conned when they voted for Trump as he told them a pack of lies and then filled the swamp with even more creatures, in the same way he was conned by Barack Obama when he's thought he was going to get someone on the left.  So much for demacracy, hey?

Capitalism is only for the little people. Same with taxes, sanity, morality, and democracy. The rich are concerned with ownership, slavery, and monopolies. Is Huawei producing a better product at a better price? Order the government to ban Huawei products under the guise of “national security.” Shut down fair competition. This is the “free market.”

“Anyway, now the brothers are trying to remove Maduro to get the oil cheaper by any method necessary. Well, maybe that's capitalism too.”

No, it’s war. If war is merely “capitalism,” then all of WW II was just “business,” including the nuking of Japan, and even the mythical “holocaust.” Nothing personal. Just business.

For the little people, capitalism is supposedly about building a better mousetrap. For the rich, capitalism is about slaughtering and stealing. Capitalism is about thuggery and organized crime.

I know little about these oil relations. The corporate media outlets ignore them because the outlets want the masses to think the war on Venezuela is about “democracy” and “human rights” and destroying “evil socialism.” I must research.

I was certain that Trump would be re-elected, because the Left had nothing to offer except identity politics, but everything changed, starting with the border wall debacle. Trump has totally lost his base. People that formerly worshipped him (e.g. Ann Coulter) are now at war with him. Consider the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Maryland, where Trump, Pence and myriad other Republicans spent three days (27 Feb to 2 March 2019) groveling to Israel. CPAC outdid AIPAC.

Meanwhile right-wingers that support Trump for his immigration policies are dismayed to learn that Trump is now calling for more and more immigrants in order to drive down American wages and boost corporate profits. Trump admits this openly.

Right-wingers are also angry that Trump did nothing to prevent their mass-purging from social media platforms. And there will be no withdrawal from Syria at all. HE HAS LOST HIS BASE.

No one will vote for him. Right-wingers may not vote for Democrats, but they won’t vote for Trump either.

Meanwhile on the Democrat side, the neoliberals have lost control to the point that Pelosi is now claiming that when Rep. Ilhan Omar noted that the AIPAC lobby is a lobby, Ms. Omar simply “didn’t know the meaning of her words.” Ms. Omar speaks English better than do most Americans, but because Omar is ethnically Somali, Pelosi says, “I think she has a different experience in the use of words.”

This has infuriated Jews, who see Pelosi’s comments as a lame attempt to smooth things over. Jews have decided that this term will be Pelosi’s last. Pelosi will not be re-elected in 2020.

Meanwhile Wall Street is furious that Pelosi has not been able to crush the growing call for Universal Medicare. Wall Street too will purge Pelosi in 2020. At age 79, with all this pressure, she’s out of the game in any case.

  3. My tablet has just packed up. Maybe the battery has gone seriously flat.

I'm putting together my next post on my PC, which is less convenient so there might be less posts for a while.

When you read my next post people will see who the real criminals in the world are.

  4. "How will you pay for it?”

The 'magic' of MMT is that it pays for itself. The government can spend by creating currency without the need for taxation. The government can create as much money as it wants, and it doesn't need to borrow it either.

Spent properly, the deficit money grows the economy which will then supply the extra goods and services.

It's an excellent system for democratic socialism, social democracy, and liberal and centrist political parties. Even conservatives can use it.

  5. VIDEO SUMMARY

[1] The Koch brothers own oil refineries in Texas (Houston, Corpus Christi, and Port Arthur) that specialize in refining “heavy” crude that is full of sulfur, bitumen, and so on.

[2] Therefore the Koch brothers pushed for the Keystone Pipeline in order to being heavy tar sands crude oil down from Canada to Koch brothers’ refineries in Texas. However the pipeline has hit many snags and environmental complications, such that the oil is not flowing to the Koch refineries in Texas.

[3] Solution? Steal Venezuela’s “heavy” crude. Libya’s crude oil is “light and sweet” and it is cheap to extract, but it goes to Europe. Besides, Libya’s crude is not suited to the Koch brothers’ refineries. Therefore, in return for the USA helping to destroy Libya, the USA now wants payback from Europe in the form of supporting regime change in Venezuela.

After all, the USA (and Canada) view Latin America as their “back yard" -- i.e. the property of North America's rich people.

It is one thing for North Korea to give its people free housing, education, and medical care, but Maduro’s quasi-socialism is in “our own hemisphere!”

Furthermore the Maduro government is full of brown people when Venezuela overall has perfectly good white oligarchs and a white upper class.

Therefore the oil grab is in progress, for the sake of “democracy,” human rights,” and blah, blah, blah.

  6. You see it the way I do, Konrad.

I don't know what goes through their minds.

"Oh, we want that oil, we'll just kill millions to get it if we have to".

In broad daylight of everyone, "oh, no one will know".
