Coronavirus: Over 170 MPs and Lords call for universal basic income during pandemic

Cross-party group of parliamentarians say emergency policy needed to give financial security

I'm just hoping it wouldn't be inflationary.

Over 170 MPs and peers have urged the government to introduce a universal basic income to "give everyone the financial support they need to provide for themselves and their families" during the coronavirus pandemic.

In a letter to chancellor Rishi Sunak the parliamentarians say that the plan to pay every adult a flat, unconditional sum of money each week for the duration of the crisis is a "practical, not ideological" proposal.

    1. That's right. And in basic income schemes where it has worked, people became more productive, which isn't likely to be the case this time.

  4. “ How does the MMT Job Guaranty work if nobody can go to work?”

And you think that is a relevant question to enlighten what? Because you cherry picked the word guarantee!

It’s a question as stupid as - how can anyone work productivity when one cannot work productively. Duh!

. Matt is not trained to understand his own stupid thoughts and therefore make adjustments...
