White House Report Recommends Multi-Pronged Approach to Counter China — Jim Garramone

China is using government, military, economic, diplomatic and information levers to change the well-tested and beneficial international order, and the United States must have a similar strategy to combat these efforts, according to a White House report.
The Pentagon views the great power competition between the US and China as being fundamentally about global dominance.

The implication is that this is a zero-sum game, the can only be won either by the liberalization of China (code for overthrow of the CCP) or war. It seem highly unlikely that the CCP will be overthrown anytime soon, and the US admits that China is in this for the long haul, so it is a "generational conflict."

The problem is that until the pandemic, China was overtaking the US economically. It is uncertain what will happen after the recovery, but China has already launched.

Time seems to be on the side of the Chinese in this if they can continue to play catchup. That will, of course, be taken into consideration by US strategist and policy makers. The first order of the day will be slowing China growth rate and reversing it if possible. This is the purpose of economic warfare, for example, which is already well underway. Another ploy will be isolating China internationally, which as also begun.

Except more military spending — a lot more considering that if the US is not able to pry Russia away from China, and absent the liberalization of Russia from within, the US and allies will be facing off with both Russia and China — Kissinger's worst nightmare.

This was totally unnecessary, resulting from exceptionalist hubris and imperial overreach. It is a monumental strategic blunder. There is win-win, zero-sum, and also lose-lose. If this goes nuclear, it will be lose-lose. In the meanwhile, those with a vested interest in it — chiefly the military-industrial-political complex — will be pushing it to the hilt.

  1. Have the "male apes" actually come up with a reason why China SHOULD NOT wield an influence militarily, economically and diplomatically in proportion to its GDP and population? I doubt it.
