Got my Covid-19 test results back

Just got my Covid-19 test results back. Fast, too, in less than 24-hr turnaround even though they said it would take an average of 11 days.

I tested negative for antibodies, but my girlfriend tested positive, which is weird because we're together like, 24/7.

  1. One explanation is that the test is worthless.

  2. Abbott is saying it is not worthless...

From my post below: “ This means that 14 days after the onset of symptoms, the test will identify an individual who has developed antibodies to the COVID-19 virus (SARS-CoV-2) 100 % of the time. This is called the sensitivity of the test. This means that if you have developed antibodies to the COVID-19 virus the Abbott test is able to detect them. The Abbott test also tells you that the antibodies the test detected are antibodies to the COVID-19 virus 99.63% of the time. This is called the specificity of the test. This means that if you have an Abbott test for antibodies to the COVID-19 virus that detected antibodies, there is great certainty that these antibodies are to the COVID-19 virus and there is almost no possibility that the antibodies the test detected developed in response to another virus that you were previously exposed to.”

I’d say mikes SO is in very good shape....,

I’m thinking about getting one of these tests too... but I’ve had an MD tell me the antibody test was no good...

I’m going to have to do more investigation...

  3. "I’m thinking about getting one of these tests too..."

Wouldn't you be breaking MAGA protocol by taking a test, Matt?

PS: Up late last night reading the works of the ancient Greek philosopher Testicles. What big balls this guy has :|

  4. “ reading the works of the ancient Greek philosopher”

I’m science trained I don’t see any value in that methodology that establishes the theory first and then dialogueing about it.. it’s non discriminatory and it doesn’t work... in Hebrew figurative terms it’s ‘Satanic’... I generally try to avoid it...

  5. "I’m science trained..."

You don't say. Our golden doodle Charlie was potty trained in the first week :)

"I don’t see any value in that methodology that establishes the theory first..."

Hello! Without Greek theory there would be no Roman practice. That's why the Romans tripped over themselves learning everything Greek -- especially the ARTS that you so ridiculously despise.

Btw, have you ever hear of the ancient Greek philosopher, poet, and musician (dabbled a bit in some math, too) who calculated the earth's circumference over 2000 years ago?

  6. One would need to know the timing of the testing, along with any clinically important information, symptoms and such, to make a more complete interpretation of the testing done.

The blood draw test is more accurate than the finger stick method. My stick was neg and blood draw IgG pos, and I definitely had the virus. I gave the bug to my wife and nearly killed her!

  7. Governor De Wine had a second test came back negative! So the conclusions are ...?

  9. I tested positive. My wife and I are also together 24/7. She was negative as were my kids. We have an air cleaner with UV light in our bedroom we run 24/7, we think might have helped.

I’d suggest getting Wellvu O2 Ring to monitor oxygen levels at night. Spend as much time as possible on stomach. Use neti pot to keep mucus clear in nose. Seems biphasic for many people.

    I hope all goes well.

  10. DeWine probably negative if exposure risks were low and he stays asymptomatic. Wait a few days in quarantine then check again.

  11. You can test positive and still not be infectious. Has to do with viral RNA load in the upper respiratory tract.

Listen to TWiV; it's excellent -- because scientists. You have any questions? Send them an email and they WILL answer your question on the show. I listen to their free podcast every time I walk Charlie.

  12. Oh? Why viral RNA load and upper respiratory tract? Because transmission is mostly thru air droplets :(

  13. “ Hello! Without Greek theory there would be no Roman practice. ”

LOL, The Romans got sick of those philosopher morons and kicked their asses...

Yo Socrates was made to kill himself.., he didn’t care as he knew his sidekick Plato would carry on once he was dead... that’s the way it works... you have to die it’s part of the process....

Paul wasn’t dispatched to Greece and Rome when Greece was in control ... he was sent there when Rome was in control...

  14. David good info!!!! Though lots to consider...

  15. “ The trial of Socrates (399 BC) was held to determine the philosopher’s guilt of two charges: asebeia (impiety) against the pantheon of Athens, and corruption of the youth of the city-state; the accusers cited two impious acts by Socrates: "failing to acknowledge the gods that the city acknowledges" and "introducing new deities".

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trial_of_Socrates

Even the Greeks couldn’t stand that moron with his useless dialogues.... should have killed Plato too... Rome took care of it all anyway eventually.... but it obviously came back thru the Roman Church which was founded by surviving philosophers...

It’s been getting its ass kicked big time since 1860 though... hopefully soon it will be wiped out ...

  16. "LOL, The Romans got sick of those philosopher morons and kicked their asses..." --Trump "University" graduate :(

Don't have the heart to tell Matt that the Greeks eventually conquered Rome culturally and also took over the empire after the empire was divided in two with the second capital in Constantinople (ancient Byzantium).

Matt, some Roman trivia: The last Roman Emperor was Constantine Palaiologos (May 29, 1453)... a Greek guy.

"Yo Socrates was made to kill himself.., he didn’t care as he knew his sidekick Plato would carry on once he was dead... that’s the way it works... you have to die it’s part of the process...."

Yo Semite! I was talking about big-balls Testicles, not Socrates. And, btw, Socrates was free to go anytime if he had so wished.

    Paul was a Hellenized Jew.

No wonder Trump "U" was shut down...

  17. David’s comments are helpful but I want to add that you should NOT do things to dry out mucous or slow production. Mucous is the best chelator in our bodies. First line of defense and most effective

Think about babies and how much mucous they make and how much they put their mouths on everything

Mucous is good but if it’s stopping you up a saline wash every now and then is helpful. Like anything don’t over do it
