SouthFront — ‘Bubonic Plague Warning’ Issued In Lake Tahoe After Fleas Test Positive

After new cases of the bubonic plague were found in Los Angeles, Colorado, and in Mongolia near the Russian border this summer, it appears the infamous plague strain responsible for killing tens of millions of Europeans during the 14th Century continues to surface, this time, in South Lake Tahoe, California.
The US Forest Service, Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, issued a “plague warning” on Thur. (Sept. 3) ahead of Labor Day weekend, informing the public that fleas in the area tested positive for the bubonic plague....

    Indeed. If it's not diagnosed in time (within 24 hours or so), you're in big trouble -- as in dead trouble. So... you live west of the Mississippi and you have an unexplained fever or swelling in the groin (hence the word "bubonic" or "boo-boo")? Run to the ER pronto. And if it is bubonic plague, ask for the killer antibiotics that search and destroy :)

    Some good news: No risk for epidemic, scientists have Yersinia pestis' number :)

    (No, vitamin D is not a cure for bubonic plague)
