"Loofah" Bill claims to be a devout Catholic. He probably foolishly believed that there was a patron Saint for men with a predilection for sexual perversion and misconduct.
That particular switch controlled an outlet mounted outside on the wall, to which heating cables for the roof were connected. Nothing more Canadian than having heating cables to melt ice dams.
