‘Americans first’: US cites domestic priorities to reject India’s vaccine plea

Trump flipped the script... would not be happening without trump... Biden admin continuing this Trump MAGA policy as well as many others...

  1. Stupid and racist argument! The EU which is a collective of countries all speaking different languages would prioritise the use of Covid vaccination in member countries worst affected. Franko's divisive identity politics in play here!

  2. Matt, the America-first vaccine policy will eventually bite your country, and the rest of us to be sure, in the ass.

Next thing you know, pfizer will be pushing for weekly doses due to so many damn variants :(

  3. Remember when Trump shared with Xi the most beautiful chocolate cake?

I think that US-China relations would have been pushed along even further if Trump had shared Melania with Xi :) (thinking out loud here)

  4. All I know from the Maria Bartiromo -- yes! yes! Big bosom Mary!) interview with Trump that it was a "most beautiful piece of chocolate cake". I guess, and probably Matt here knows, the recipe should be on the MAGA website :)

Trivia: From the said Bartiromo-Trump interview, we also learned that the missiles Trump ordered on Syria were of the "unmanned" kind. True, big bosom Mary actually asked Trump if the missiles were manned. And Trump with a straight face answered "yes." Can' make that shit up!

  5. And btw what this whole covid thing has shown us is that when the shtf the whole “globalist” playbook is thrown out and it quickly becomes every nation for themselves..

So the turd world nations better figure it the fck out ...

  6. Unknown: I expect you merely intend to provoke. Nonetheless, I feel, as a member of one country which has been adversely affected by the EU's own vaccine nationalism, specifically designed to protect the economic interests of major European pharmaceutical firms in France and German (especially France), one can hardly criticize the US for looking to its own interests. On top of that, the EU's absurd attempts to exclude Sputnik from distribution put the lie to every claim to European solidarity. Did the EU provide vaccines to the Palestinians -- no, Russia did.

What is incredibly objectionable about US behaviour, however, are its activities in opposing relaxation of patents, allowable in emergencies under the WTO, so that other countries, such as India could manufacture its own vaccines. On this, the US has aligned itself in evil with the EU. Another vile act was the Biden administration's pressure and intimidation towards Brazil to force it not to obtain and use the Sputnik vaccine.

  7. Lastgreek- were they the "hydro" sonic missiles the idiot kept talking about?

Ruccius has it, giving the ip away for the vaccines wouldn't take a single dose away from an American. Hurt innovation? Lol!! It's not like moderna developed their vaccine on their own dime.

Vaccine makers have warned US officials that temporarily scrapping patents for Covid-19 shots would risk handing mRNA technology to China and Russia … you kind knew this was coming didn’t you! Last refuge of scoundrels etc.

  16. Moderna has said it will not attempt to enforce the patent rights they have to their vaccine. Which is nice and seems humane. But apparently making the vaccine is quite a bit more complicated than just what is described in the patent and they have not exactly provided step by step instructions as to how to make the vaccine as far as I know. And even if they did, it is not like every country would have the facilities and resources necessary to be able to produce it anyways.

But given the scale and human costs of this pandemic, I want the US to provide ALL of the step by step instructions to all countries and compensate Moderna corporation as fairly as possible in exchange for their intuition and work. And people who understand MMT know the second part of that is easy for the US.

  21. "Vaccine makers have warned US officials that temporarily scrapping patents for Covid-19 shots would risk handing mRNA technology to China and Russia "

Like China and Russia respect patents.

Patents are the Enclosure Acts of the 21st century. And will have precisely the same effects.

Trivia: In the opening scene of "Last Seen Wearing" of Inspector Morse (Season 2, Episode 2), Morse is lying on his couch, shoes off, reading a Thomas Hardy novel (you know, Tess of the d'Ubervilles). The novel is Jude the Obscure. Very clever of Colin Dexter (the creator of Inspector Morse novels) to include this because it sets the theme for the story: scandalous love ;)

  23. A poem from the 18th century reads as a protest of the inclosure acts:

They hang the man and flog the woman

Who steals the goose from off the common

Yet let the greater villain loose

That steals the common from the goose

The law demands that we atone

When we take things we do not own

But leaves the lords and ladies fine

Who take things that are yours and mine

The poor and wretched don't escape

If they conspire the law to break

This must be so but they endure

Those who conspire to make the law

The law locks up the man or woman

Who steals the goose from off the common

And geese will still a common lack

Till they go and steal it back

  24. On March 20th 2021, people in over 40 countries across the world gathered in peaceful unison for a worldwide demonstration - to oppose disproportionate government measures threatening the very foundation of their rights and freedoms. This huge international effort was appallingly misrepresented and downright ignored by the mainstream media.

Speaking of, we just passed the one year anniversary of when the criminal buffoon with orange reverse raccoon eyes publicly wondered out loud about injecting disinfectants... Politico had a funny article about it. The officials around Trump all knew he was an idiot and knew he wouldn't be able to understand the briefing prior to the press conference. A few of them tried to keep Trump from doing the conference, since they knew it could go bad so many different ways. But they lost, and presser went ahead, fortunately for us, and we got that wonderful gem.
