No suprise when you consider that their 2nd Amendment, K, is all about keeping the you-know-who in their place.
ReplyDeleteBiggest mistake the Union made after the Civil War was not to round up all the Confederate officers and leaders (the traitors) and shoot them. Better yet...hang 'em high!

ReplyDeleteSecond Amendment, if I remember correctly, was pushed hardest by an anti-federalist coalition from Bradford County, PA. Hardly a bastion of slaveholders. And the language they used (again, it's been a long time and this is from memory) was quite contrary to keeping power out of the hands of the (potentially, in their cases) oppressed.
ReplyDeleteThe important part of the 2ndA is the "a well regulated militia" part that, unfortunately, is overlooked. These state militias, especially in the south, were basically set up to control the slaves lest they got any funny ideas like freedom in their heads.
ReplyDeleteEven to this day, if a law-abiding black man owned a legally purchased gun, his odds of being shot by police go up exponentially. Why? Because he's black, and guns were not meant for black (Indian) people to have.
...and not just real guns but toy guns as well.
