What Went Wrong With California's High-Speed Railway

It promised to transform how Californians travel but is now seen as a “bullet train to nowhere.” This is why America's west coast megaproject has been far from high-speed.

  1. Musk is saying his next gen battery will power the roadster version from LA to San Fran and back on 1 full charge… we don’t need trains…

Think of 100 EVs going down the road coordinating their movements with each other as a big “train”… 4 passengers that’s 400 people…

100 EVs at $35,000 each $3.5m which would be less than a 400 passenger train costs… then you still need transportation when you get there anyway…

  2. Trains are beautiful! I've always loved trains and train stations. It's a significant part of British culture and way of life. There's nothing like a train trip to somewhere nice, like the coast, or a beautiful village. You've given me an idea for another photo post.

  3. Ok but what do you do when you get there for transport? You still have to rent a car…

Musk says a lot of things.

Funny that an LA to SF trip with the current, and now very-dated looking, Tesla would be one hell of an uncomfortable ride with that 1200lb battery under your ass.

  5. His latest plaid model has 390 mile range and can charge 187 miles in 15 minutes… 0-60 in 2 seconds…. $130k though so it’s considered a super car price performance point…
