The title is a bit misleading since Ben wrote before Marx but was familiar with Smith and other classical economists of his day. Subsequently, Marx attempted to point out their mistakes and lack of clarity in his work. The labor theory of value is fundamental to classical economics, so it is hardly surprising that Ben mentions it. Marx tried to clarify the LTV and show how it works in detail.
