Explaining Afghanistan’s Collapse — Paul Robinson
Vietnam Syndrome redux. This is fast unfolding fiasco is even worse than Vietnam since it shows that the US learned nothing from its ignominious withdrawal in Vietnam.

The moral is that where the population is feeble minded and immoral as seems to be the case with far too many Afghans (e.g. the police chief "Dado" mentioned in the article), only a relatively brutal regime like the Taliban can hold the country together. Of course in suggesting Afghans are an inferior species to Europeans I'm being thoroughly racist. I make no apologies.
If we'd learned anything from Vietnam, we had never gone into The Stan in the fucking first place!
