The New Economics Foundation talks fiscal rules within the context of MMT – even if they aren’t saying so – and the result is really good

Now the liberals are in charge of the Labour party again. Rachel Reeves mentioned a ” value for money ” group to monitor fiscal policy.
ReplyDeleteIs this not just Simon Wren Lewis and Jonathan Portes idea of fiscal councils being introduced ? After all these guys have so much more power over the left’s economic policies now the liberals are back in charge.
Fiscal referees, value for money group is creeping into the narrative a lot more nowadays. Surely those associated with Wren Lewis and Portes are pushing this ? Just with a different name.
What do you make of it ?
The same or something different ?
For me this just to get the Fiscal Credibility Rule supported by Wren Lewis and Portes in via the back door ?
ReplyDeleteForget the official Rule, apparently, there is a secret Fiscal Credibility Rule

I would be very wary of these people promoting these fiscal referees and value for money group within government.
Because Bill met with the Labour party and destroyed these fiscal rules. This could be a way they are getting them introduced via the back door.
Another step towards a technocratic government
Who gets to pick who are the fiscal referees and value for money group and how do we The voter get rid of them ?
