  1. “ from Gilgamesh through Socrates, Aristotle, Augustine, Machiavelli, Hobbes, Rousseau, Montesquieu, Hegel, and Marx—and contrasted it with Chinese conceptions of the idea.”

But everything happened AFTER that… from 1860 forward in time…

The Science degree was established in the academe for the first time and THEN all the human material progress took place…

The Science degree Is a rejection of the previous degree program which was based on Socrates dialogic methodology…

If your view stops with Marx in 1855 then you miss all of the material progress since then…

It’s like you are still riding around on horse and buggy in your world view…

  2. Steve Bannon has been trying to get Wang Huning on his show, to no avail...

Nationalism is a universal ideology. It doesn't require democracy; authoritarianism can be adapted to serve its purposes.

Nationalism requires cultural identity; more so than economic equality. The cultural can make up for what is lacking economically. The US military is a fading example of this. It's also an example of abusive nationalism.

Domestically, the American dream is running on fumes. Patriotism and cultural myths are insufficient to overcome dissatisfaction with declining economic outcomes. From this point of view, a nationalist resurgence is inevitable. Woke culture is doomed, unless it can reduce economic inequality. Authoritarian methods won't salvage it.

  4. Bannon exhibits a lot of paradox he went to Jesuit school primary (dialogic) … then went to Virginia tech / US navy (didactic science) .. then went to Harvard (back to dialogue) …

So he is back and forth between Art and Science all the time it’s kind of funny to watch…

Our Tom has similar training.. not exact but similar… toms not as much back and forth as Bannon…

  8. USMA West Point awarded the first Bachelor of Science in North America … and they are still exclusive to that…

US Land grant institutions quickly followed…

That was all post Marx and post Darwin…

  9. US land grants eventually added Art schools … so they can award either an Art Degree or a Science degree depending on the methodology used by the department…

  11. What is the big university in Canada? Most prestigious?

  12. McGill.
That's where the Canadian ruling class get their education, for what it's worth.

    1. McGill for med or law school. For everything else it's no better or worse than the rest.

If you're going into finance or accounting, Concordia is tops.

Football is your thing? Bishop's University.

Go ahead. Ask me anything :)
