Why Russia Is Walking Away From NATO and European Union — Finian Cunningham interview Professor Paul Robinson
I do not know anyone who's packed up and moved to Russia. Why is that? Is it me, or is it probably, still, because Russia is such a lousy place to live? But let's not forget that lousy places produce great writers :)
The Ecumenical Patriarch of Eastern Orthodox Christians Bartholomew, who is currently visiting the United States, was asked the other day, in Greek by some Greek-American reporter, about the Russian Orthodox Church's schism with the the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople because of Constantinople recognizing the Ukrainian Orthodox Church as autocephalous (that means independent) and not part of the Russian Church's jurisdiction replied in Greek σκασίλα μου. Roughly translated, it means "I don't give two shits."
My wife who is of French/German origin, who has been to Greece twice on vacation, wishes we lived in Greece. Why? Because everything to her feels better, tastes better -- just all around better in Greece than life here in Canada. Me, of course, I am a realist. Tell her that it's great for vacations but you need to be established in Greece (that means you got to have a solid source of constant income) to live there. Plus, i like ice hockey and me with my temper, Greeks with their lousy tempers is just a lousy mix.
NATO snuggling up to Russia in the Baltics...

How many are packing up and moving to Greece?
ReplyDelete1) the ones that never left are the lucky ones,
Delete2) only the rich are moving back

ReplyDeleteSnowden?
Snowden is/was American. Given his last name, his ancestors might have fled Canada?
