Boeing suspends parts, maintenance and support for Russian airlines — Reuters

Beijing is no doubt taking notice. China is major market for Boeing. Russia and China developed their own commercial aircraft to compete.

I suspect that Beijing is also taking notice of behavior of other Western firms that puts them in the untrustworthy category.

Well, looks like the West loses the engine orders for those domestically-built commercial aircraft too. We have hardly begun to see the shakeout. The good news, though, is that no nukes are flying yet.
“We are now choosing one of two suppliers, General Electric’s GEnX and Rolls Royce’s Trent 7000,” Maxim Litvinov, one of the two chief designers, told Reuters on Wednesday, adding that the venture planned to make a decision by the first half of next year.

“But right now Russia’s United Engine Corporation and the Aero Engine Corporation of China (AECC) are also cooperating on creating a new engine,” he said, on the sidelines of Airshow China, where it unveiled a life-size model of the CR929’s cabin.

Priority when choosing suppliers will be given to Russian and Chinese firms, and then to Western firms with Russian or Chinese partners’ joint ventures, he said, adding that the basic principle should be that the firms offer competitive proposals....

  1. The 'nuclear' option is for both China and Russia to officially suspend enforcement of patents and copyright.

    Eliminating the West's intellectual property, on which most its rent is extracted, would be a catastrophic blow.

    1. The Russians have done that already regarding copyright material.

      (Mum's the word but I have downloaded I reckon over 200 math/physics/chemistry textbooks, for free, from a Russian library site. Easily worth over $10,000 via Amazon. Like I said, mum's the word.)
