The United States has been at war for 225 of the 246 years it’s been in existence. That’s more than 91% of the time they’ve been a nation. No other nation on earth comes close. It’s basically all they do.

Thought what a wonderful idea it would be to fund and arm these lunatics to the teeth to provoke Russia. After Russia lost millions of lives to the Nazis in World War 2.

    1. "After Russia lost millions of lives to the Nazis in World War 2."

Yeah, that will teach them not to make any more pacts with Nazis.

The Red Army was hardly less evil than the Nazis.

Get yourself a serious history book.

  2. Have the US and NATO overplayed their hand and have they gone too far?

As people marched in Italy over the weekend to leave NATO. Will other countries follow and simply realise without Russia or China They could very easily be next ?

    1. Strategic.

To paraphrase Patrick Cockburn, he's gotta be the dumbest of the dumb Russian leaders ever.

As speaking of dummies, the Calculus Books for Dummies is an excellent introduction to the subject. It's worth it just for the precalculus review alone.

Tomorrow the world celebrates Pi Day. Would be now if the dummy Putin declares a one-day ceasefire to celebrate the beautiful constant. (Why is it called a constant? And what was the latest contribution to our knowledge about Pi?)

  7. Pi is stupid because it defines the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter when it should really be relative to the radius, which gives us Tau. That way, we're not constantly seeing 2 pi radians come up in our formulas, but rather 1 Tau radians.

    Pi Is (still) Wrong

    Pi was almost 6.28…

    The Tau Manifesto

Happy Pi Day! Unless you are a Tauist

As the world celebrates Pi Day on Friday, a movement is growing that claims pi — or 3.14, the ratio of a circle's diameter to its circumference — is wrong.

The Tau Day movement supporters — also known as Tauists — say the circle's constant should use the radius, not the diameter.

Tau (τ) comes out to 2π, or 6.28. Tau Day is celebrated June 28, and Tauists refer to Pi Day as Half Tau Day.

The Tauist argument is laid out in the Tau Manifesto, written in 2010 by theorist Michael Hartl: The definition of a circle is the set of points a particular distance from the center. That distance is the radius.

"When you divide by the diameter, you're really dividing by twice the radius, so that factor of 2 shows up everywhere," Hartl said in an interview with USA TODAY Network.

Hartl isn't the first person to dispute pi. In 2001, Bob Palais, a math professor at the Utah Valley University, wrote an article titled, "π is wrong!" in The Mathematical Intelligencer.

Palais points out that Leonhard Euler, the mathematician who popularized pi, actually used the 6.28 value first.

Euler went back and forth between the 3.14 and 6.28 values, "so he was sensible and used it for what seemed appropriate for a particular setting," Palais said in an e-mail to USA TODAY Network.

    1. Pi vs Tau. Wow!

      And the winner is... Pi!

Because Tau is needless. Now, if you want to use Tau, go right ahead (it is no slice of Pi off my plate). As long as it has a Greek name, that is all that matters.
